When you think of unstoppable forces, the first pop culture character to spring to mind likely isn't a member of The Banana Splits. The hokey/creepy Hanna-Barbera band from the '60s is full of plush animals that belong in a kids' show, not in a test of Terminator-style determination. But that was before they starred in a slasher film. The Banana Splits Movie redefined these lovable creatures, who are now taking the tra-la-law into their own furry hands.
Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, and Snorky (all voiced by Eric Bauza) join human characters like show producer Rebecca (Sara Canning) in the terrifying (and totally absurd) story about what happens when a show's cancellation has murderous consequences. SYFY WIRE's own Mike Avila moderated the film's San Diego Comic-Con panel, where fans learned just how scary the Splits could be. But what they didn't learn was how to beat them.
SYFY WIRE has an exclusive clip from the film in which the characters discuss just that ... with limited success.

It seems like the only way to stop the Banana Splits is ... well, you don't. If the video's laughing villain Carl (who also built the Splits) is to be believed, the murderous furballs are driven by an invulnerability shared with the likes of Jason and Michael Myers. The only solution is to get out of their way.
The Banana Splits Movie gets a digital release on Aug. 13, then hits Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 27. The film will air this October on SYFY.
